Nico Rubio / 333

Claudia Cassidy Theater

A synchronized tap dance work for three performers contemporizing traditional rhythms and sequences.

From Jazz to Hip Hop and A Capella too, 333 carries the pulse of Tap through each form and beyond. Experience Kinected through your ears, eyes, and all other vibes, as we flow with the idiosyncrasy of Thelonious Monk and the classic knock of Slum Village, produced by J Dilla.

Tap Dancers include Latrell Garnett, Zayvion Rubio and Nico Rubio.

The first song is played by Charlie Coffeen (Piano), with Jam One and Doc Red (Beat Box). The second and third songs are by Thelonious Monk. Our Remaining suite is Slum Village.

All choreography is by Nico Rubio, all improvisation is by each individual dancer.

This work was created with support from Chicago Human Rhythm Project’s American Rhythm Center, as well as support from the Chicago Dancemakers Forum and Hubbard Street Dance Chicago.
