Elevate Chicago Dance is a citywide festival with public performances and studio showings at nine creative spaces around the city, featuring close to forty Chicago choreographers and dance companies.

The festival opens as four highly distinctive artists show short pieces and discuss their creative directions: Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Anna Martine Whitehead, Every house has a door, and Sara Zalek.

Reservations are free.

Advanced reservations are encouraged but not required.

Deeply Rooted Dance Theater
performs world class dance and builds community through contemporary dance rooted in African-American traditions of storytelling and universal themes.
Every house has a door

creates performance and related media works drawn from their interest in historically or critically neglected subjects. They convene diverse, inter-generational teams of collaborators for each new project.

Anna Martine Whitehead
is an artist, writer, choreographer, and curator making performances and video art about blackness, history, memory, space, and dance from a queer lens.

Sara Zalek
is a movement artist, choreographer, and curator rooted in Butoh and investigations of personal identity. She is obsessed with time travel, experimental science, hybrid animals, permaculture, and the intentional act of transformation.
