Allyson Elizabeth Ratliff is Associate Artistic Director and Director of Outreach at the Hyde Park School of Dance, one of three schools recognized by Chicago Magazine as offering the city’s best ballet training.  She is a senior ballet instructor and a primary choreographer for the school’s studio company.


Ms. Ratliff began her dance training at the Lenhoff School of Music and Dance and went on to train at the Hyde Park School of Ballet, Bryant Ballet, Joel Hall Dance Center and School of Ballet Chicago, where she studied under Daniel Duel and Patricia Blair.  She continued her training at Ballet Arizona and Washington Ballet.


Ms. Ratliff has served as a teaching artist with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as well as the primary instructor of ballet for AileyCamp Chicago. She holds a master’s degree in arts management from Columbia College.  In 2013 she founded AER Dance Theater, for which she currently serves as Artistic Director.  AER Dance Theater was formed with the goal of fostering diversity in ballet and expanding the conventional ballet audience.


Ms. Ratliff’s passion centers on promoting dance to underserved communities and achieving the highest artistic standards for her students and company.
