Paper Shoes is The Humans dance/performance journey into nostalgia, memory, inevitability and escape. Scenes and characters are layered and juxtaposed as six performers float through the non-linear structure which is visually crafted like a film or a dream or a child's mind--episodic and mysterious. The dimension of 2010 CDF Lab Artist Rachel Bunting's poetic approach to choreography and performance is amplified by her costume, music, video and sculptural collaborators. The evolution of the performance is not experienced in a linear narrative but rather through the use of symbol, metaphor, and object. The Humans' consistent core of dancers had an integral role in the work with their kinesthetic attention to shifting details and images over the course of creation and work-in-progress performances. Choreography: Rachel Bunting Performers: Karla Beltchenko, Rachel Bunting, Precious Jennings, Kelly Kane, Helen Lee, and Matthew McMunn Music: Sam Robinson Costumes: Collin Bunting Prop Design & Construction: Mark Bazant and Rachel Bunting Video: Glen Jennings
