Silverspace Salon - Pete Carpenter
March 2008

Choreographing Coalitions as an Artist, Teacher and Curator:
In this two-hour salon, co-presented by Silverspace Salon and CDF, Peter Carpenter will facilitate a conversation around the relationship between activism and dancing. As a Links Hall 2008 Artistic Associate, Peter will look at his own work and the work of artists from the upcoming festival titled Choreographing Coalitions: Dancing the Other in the Self at Links Hall. Carpenter will attempt to narrate his own journey of becoming an activist choreographer. Participants will be encouraged to respond spontaneously and candidly to the work (presented via video), and articulate their own relationship to the concept of choreography as advocacy.

This event is FREE and takes place Monday, March 3 from 7-- 9 pm at Silverspace Studio, 1474 N. Milwaukee Ave, #3Lite refreshments will be served. BYOB - Wine is Welcome!

Please RSVP to silverspacedance@gmail.com if you plan to attend!

Silverspace Salons is an informal series of salon-style, artist talks with local and national dance artists committed to pushing their creative approach forward. Each conversation focuses on an invited artist's process in making movement-based work. Through dialogue, movement demonstrations, and video presentations, artists talk about how their research manifests in the body and how it aids, but also differentiates from, the development process of making work in the studio. This program is a partnership between Silverspace and CDF, with support from the Chicago Seminar on Dance and Performance.
